Firewatch – Game Review

Firewatch – Game Poster

This review is well overdue, as I finished this game awhile ago (about a month or so). Watching the trailer for this game is what made me want to play it. I was intrigued by the storyline they presented. I’ll keep this short and sweet. I played this game on the PS4, the game itself is very immersive and the story grabs you right from the start. The environment is beautiful and so amazingly put together. The music is subtle and matches the game tit for tat. There was one thing that bugged me, the books. Throughout the game there are various books of various titles. They seem insignificant but there were so many of them that they also seemed like a hidden achievement. So what did I do? Well, just like a lot of completionist gamers I collected every single one, placed them in my tower even when I had to go out of the way to do so, and even arranged them on my shelf. So what did I get for them? Nothing. No achievement. No acknowledgement. Nothing unlocked. Just the pride of grabbing the books. So if you play this game, just leave the books, there’s no point to them. I loved the twist in the story, and the overall interactions between the characters. I also wish we could have actually met our counterpart at the end of the game, but I like how it left it with a bit of mystery. Overall I definitely recommend it as game you should play. Have you played Firewatch? What was your favorite part? What did you hate? Let me know in the comments.
